Dry Beaver Search – 10/5/11 – Press Release

A call was placed to Sublette County dispatch late  in the evening on 10-5-11 in regard to a missing hunter.  The reporting party stated that his friend had been missing near South Beaver Creek since 1:00 P.M.  An incident command post was set up at the Gravel Pit near the South Beaver Creek Road and hasty teams began searching for a 62 year old man from Farson.  Search and rescue members hiked and patrolled roads with ATVs throughout the night looking for the lost hunter.  The hunter was unprepared for the very wet and cold conditions and with a snow storm approaching the next day the search teams put a high level of urgency into finding the missing hunter.  At approximately 10:45 A.M. on 10-6-11 a search team heard three shots while hiking in one of the search areas.  The search team signaled the hunter with their firearm and after responding to the shots the subject was located by SAR teams at 11:30 A.M.  The subject was treated for hypothermia in the field and transported by TTSAR to an ambulance.  The subject was then taken to the Pinedale medical clinic where he was treated for hypothermia and later released.
