Cliff Creek Search – 8/5/11 – Press Release

At approximately 9:30 at night on the 28th of July the Sublette County Sheriff’s office paged out Tip Top Search and Rescue to an initial report of an ATV rollover with injuries near the Cliff Creek Drainage.  TTSAR members Brent Cheeney, Jason Ray, Joe Harrell, Aaron Koch, and Milford Lockwood responded to the Cliff Creek road and Hwy 191 where they set up an incident command post.  TTSAR, Pinedale EMS, and Emergency Management responded with Polaris Rangers and vehicles to a crash site in the Cliff Creek Drainage.  After a brief search the Polaris Razor that was involved in the accident was spotted in a creek.  SAR personnel recovered the Razor from the creek along with the body of a 27 year old Rock Springs man.

Tip Top Search and Rescue urges people to wear helmets and seat belts while recreating with all ATV’s.  There have been several side by side ATV accidents in the last year and significant injuries have been reported due to high speed, lack of proper seat belt, and occupants not wearing helmets.

On 8-4-11 at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon Tip Top Search and Rescue received a request from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office to assist in a search and rescue operation West of Lander.  The request was to assist in the rescue of a man with High Altitude complications at Sonnicant Lake.  TTSAR members Milford Lockwood, Tony Chambers, and Shawn Streeter departed from the Pinedale Airport aboard the Sublette County contract helicopter.  Upon arrival at the Lander airport, a joint mission between TTSAR and Fremont County SAR was initiated.  A reconnaissance flight was taken with both TTSAR and Fremont County personnel and upon arrival at the scene it was possible to land the Sublette County helicopter near the subject.  The subject was loaded into the helicopter and flown back to the Lander airport and then transported to the Lander Hospital via ground ambulance. This is the second joint search and rescue mission involving the contract helicopter that TTSAR has done with Fremont County since July 27th.
